We are excited to share with you that PS 133 will be continuing this year with our C.A.R.E.S. Program! The C.A.R.E.S. Program, aligned to NYCDOE’s Respect for All initiative, was created to support students with their overall character development, while providing them with opportunities to demonstrate ways they can be accountable and take ownership over their actions. Additionally, we collectively work towards ensuring our school community is as safe as can be, while supporting one another’s physical, social and emotional well-being through building up individual character traits in a positive manner. By introducing, teaching, recognizing, & celebrating the following traits, students are learning the appropriate way to treat each other and work together as a community, minimizing bullying, harassment and discrimination incidents, while both inside and outside of the school building.
Each letter in C.A.R.E.S. stands for different character values that are spotlighted each month.
C stands for Community, Compassion, & Creativity
A stands for Appreciation, Authenticity, & Achievement
R stands for Respect, Resilience, & Responsibility
E stands for Empathy, Embracing Differences, & Encouragement
S stands for Sportsmanship, Self-Reflection, & Self-Management
The goal of this program is to empower students to become the best versions of themselves while being productive members of the P.S. 133 community, by embracing & instilling core values that help build their character.
Each month, students in each class are recognized for specific actions that demonstrate one of these traits, and are celebrated at our monthly assemblies with an award.
